Trials for the treatment of tuberculosis (TB)

ACTG 309. Drug: rifampin, INH, ethambutol, PZA. This study will look at how long different combinations of anti-TB drugs stay in the blood. Participants will be given up to 8 weeks of two or more anti-tuberculosis drugs: INH (isoniazid), rifampin, ethambutol, or PZA (pyrazinamide). Blood samples will be taken on two different days during the course of treatment. On one of those days blood will be taken at three different times after the drugs are taken. Total time on drug: 8 weeks. Required: HIV+, male or female, active TB, age: > 13 years old, abstinence or agreement of use of barrier birth control during study, negative pregnancy test within 14 days of starting study. Drugs not allowed: P- aminosalicylic acid (PSA).
